Adam Sommers
Founder & Fiduciary
Leadership
Adam Sommers has been investing on behalf of clients since 1996. As the founder of Sommers Financial, Adam’s goal was — and remains today — to manage investments responsibly and with integrity, for the benefit of each client.
Education
Adam is currently pursuing a Master's of Science degree in Personal Financial Planning while studying the body of knowledge necessary to obtain the certification of Certified Financial Planner (CFP). Before his studies at the College for Financial Planning, he graduated magna cum laude from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, with a bachelor’s degree in business and a focus on financial analysis and personal finance. Adam maintains that the most valuable learning tools — besides experience earned each year in this business — are the books on his shelves. He is an avid student of investment leaders including Warren Buffett, Ric Edelman, John Bogle, and Benjamin Graham.
Community
Adam was born and raised in South Columbia County, and is currently the treasurer for the St. Helens Student Foundation, and a passionate booster and coach of St. Helens athletics. In 2012, Adam joined the Board of Directors at the South Columbia County Chamber of Commerce, and began teaching an Investments class at Concordia University. Adam’s wife, Teresa, teaches in the elementary schools for the St. Helens School District. They have two daughters, Alexa and Adelyn. Together, they enjoy canoeing Oregon waters, hiking the Oregon hillsides, and taking care of their yellow Labrador retriever, Ellis, their cat, Dimitri, and their home in Warren.

Joyce Pereira
Client Service Manager
Leadership
Joyce Pereira has been involved in various community and civic groups. She currently serves on the City of St. Helens Tourism Advisory Board, and is secretary for the Women of Wall Street (WOWS) investment club, and treasurer for a political organization. She is also an active member of Warren Baptist Church, where she serves as a Sunday School teacher.
Education Joyce graduated with honors from Libby Sr. High School in Montana and went on to complete two years at the University of Montana. After being selected for the National Student Exchange program, and attending a year at Oregon State University, Joyce transferred to OSU for her final year, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business. She completed her Series 65 license to become an Investment Advisor Representative in March 2009.
Community
Joyce grew up in Northwest Montana, but was never fond of the long and cold winters. She met her husband, David, in Colorado and they both welcomed the chance to leave the big city of Denver and return to Oregon in 2002. They have enjoyed being able to live and work in the St. Helens area, where David serves as an associate pastor. Joyce completed the Master Gardener certification program and works with a local quilting group serving the needs of the community. After several jobs with the St. Helens School District, she finds herself enjoying the position as Client Service Manager at Sommers Financial Management, while also bookkeeping for a couple of local businesses. |
